VinUniversity Hackathon 2022 The annual VinUniversity Hackathon will be back this December. This is a non-stop 36-hour event organized as part of the Agile Innovation Course for all freshmen to apply things they learn into creatively solving real-world problems. The Hackathon, led by the Entrepreneurship Lab, is where students from different colleges work as teams, utilizing each’s own strengths and capabilities to come up with an interdisciplinary approach. Based on a real-world social problem students will conduct research, and from there, develop prototypes, with an aim to deliver a comprehensive and realistic solution. Judges will consist of forefront experts, leaders, entrepreneurs in various industries. VinUniversity Hackathon will be led by Reactor School Singapore, together with experts and lecturers of the Agile Innovation subject.

  • Le Thi Phuong Dung
    Dr (Jenny) Dung Le is an Assistant Professor in the College of Business and Management. Before joining VinUniversity, she has 10 years of teaching experience at various universities in Vietnam and Australia. Dr Le completed her doctoral program at Griffith University, Australia, in 2020 and has published many papers in top-ranking tourism and hospitality journals, including the International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Sustainable Tourism, Current Issues in Tourism, and Tourism Review. Her teaching and research interests include eye-tracking technology, digital marketing, emotions, experience design, crisis management, and sustainability. Also, she participated in several consulting projects for industry partners (e.g., Mantra hotel group, Intrepid Travel Group, Vietnam Electricity Group) and provided practical implications based on customer research.
  • Nguyen Thi Mai Lan
    Dr. Alex Nguyen obtained her PhD in Finance from the University of Adelaide, Australia. Before joining VinUniversity, she has had 9 years of teaching experience in both Vietnam and Australia. Prior to her teaching career, Dr. Alex had diverse industry experience at KPMG, VietinBank, and CMC corporation. She is currently the co-founder of a Facebook page named “Ca phe Fin”, that provides financial management consulting services for Vietnamese SMEs.
  • Phi Thi Linh Giang
    Dr Giang Phi holds a PhD in Tourism Management from Griffith University, Australia. Giang possesses a unique background blending industry, INGO and academic experiences that enable her to develop unique insight and practical approaches to sustainable development, tourism management and mission-driven entrepreneurship. Besides serving on the advisory board of CBT Travel & Consulting social enterprise since 2014, Giang has engaged in high-profile consulting projects for the European Commission and Tourism Accommodation Australia. Prior to joining VinUniversity, she worked as an Assistant Professor at Aalborg University, Copenhagen, Denmark. Having lived and worked in 4 countries across 3 continents, Giang now focuses on bringing her global experience to drive positive changes through impactful teaching, research and community services in Vietnam.
  • Rohit Verma
    Rohit Verma (Professor, Operations Technology and Information Management area; School of Hotel Administration) is currently on leave from Cornell University serving as the Founding Provost/Rector (Chief Academic Officer) of VinUniversity, Hanoi (Vietnam). Prior to his current appointment, he was the Dean of External Relations for Cornell SC Johnson College of Business (May 2016 – June 2019); Singapore Tourism Board Distinguished Professor (January 2014 – June 2019); Executive Director for Cornell Institute for Healthy Futures (July 2015 – June 2018); and Executive Director of Cornell Center for Hospitality Research (July 2009 – June 2012).

  • Vu Anh Dung (Dzung)
    Associate Professor Vu Anh Dzung is the Dean of College of Arts and Sciences. Before working at VinUniversity, Dr Dzung Vu was the Founding Standing Vice-Rector of Vietnam Japan University – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Prior to that, he was Dean of the Faculty of International Business and Economics and Vice-Rector of the University of Economics and Business. Graduated with PhD degree at University of Cambridge, Dr Dzung Vu gained substantial experience in different high-level positions as a Senior Manager, Marketing Director, and Consultant in prestigious companies and corporations like Heineken, Tiger, UTStarcom Diageo, GSK, Cadbury and others. He was also the co-founder of BrotherIMC on integrated communications. Dr Dzung Vu is a pioneer in applying CDIO initiative (from MIT) on developing and implementing an outcome-based curriculum for undergraduate and graduate programs in Vietnam. He has also successfully brought the 1st undergraduate economics program in Vietnam for international quality assurance assessment by ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).
